ATHENS, Ohio - Seeding in the MAC Tournament will be on the line when the Bobcats travel to Akron for the 2007 regular finale on Thursday night. Depending on the Bobcats' result against the Zips they could earn the sixth, seventh or eighth and final seed in the conference tournament which starts on Sunday.

Last weekend Ohio played two heart-breaking double-overtime games on the road in Northwest Ohio. On Friday, Bowling Green broke a scoreless tie in the second overtime period to earn a victory and Toledo scored early in second extra frame to break a 1-1 tie for the win.

Ohio senior Larissa Najjar (Columbus) scored her first goal of the season and third of her career on a penalty kick against the Rockets for the lone Bobcat goal of the weekend. The score was on Ohio's first penalty kick attempt of the season.

Akron, currently in last place in the MAC regular season standings have been eliminated from post-season play but could play a big role in Ohio's MAC Tournament berth.

Earning the sixth seed would align the Bobcats with the No. 3 seed, currently Northern Illinois, who defeated Ohio 1-0 on Oct. 19. Staying place in the seventh seed would set up the `Cats with a rematch against No. 2 Toledo while the eighth seed would put the Bobcats in a difficult spot against No. 1 seed Ball State, which has lost just one conference match all season and defeated Ohio 1-0 on Oct. 5.

The MAC Tournament begins on Sunday Nov. 4, with the top four seeds hosting first-round games and the highest remaining seed hosting the final four and championship game next weekend on Friday Nov. 9 and Sunday Nov. 11, respectively.

Last year the second-seeded Bobcats were upset 2-0 by the seventh-seeded Northern Illinois Huskies at Chessa Field in a year when all four top seeds fell at home in the first round.
