Nicolle Varney and her Bobcat teammates have once again been recognized for their strong academic tradition

ATHENS, Ohio - Continuing its longstanding tradition of academic success, Ohio Soccer has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award. The Bobcats represent one of 723 soccer teams (221 men, 502 women) to claim the honor for the 2011-12 academic year.
During the 2011-12 season, Ohio Soccer student-athletes combined to post a very impressive team grade-point average of 3.43. This is higher than what the team achieved during the 2010-11 academic year, which was an already solid GPA of 3.38.
At the close of the most recent school term (Summer 2012), 16 Ohio Soccer student-athletes had achieved cumulative GPAs of 3.11 or higher while seven had posted marks above 3.59. The team's highest GPA is a very impressive 3.928.
