Jodi Hermanek and the Bobcats went 14-8 in Mid-American Conference play last season

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Softball Team was selected to finish second in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the annual preseason coaches' poll released by the league on Thursday afternoon.
Bowling Green and Ball State were picked by the league's coaches to take the top spots in the East and West divisions, respectively. The Cardinals were tabbed as MAC Tournament favorites by six voters, with Ohio, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan also receiving votes to win the tournament title.
Ohio finished behind only BGSU in the East and ahead of Kent State (third), Miami (fourth), Akron (fifth), and Buffalo (sixth). In the West, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan claimed the top three spots while Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Toledo were ranked 4-6, respectively.
The Bobcats will open the 40th season in program history on Friday, Feb. 8 at the East Carolina Pirate Classic in Greenville, N.C.
