Bobcat Softball Begins 40th Season at ECU Pirate Classic Ohio to play Towson, Cleveland State, Rider, and host East Carolina in first action of 2013 season
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University Softball Team begins its 40th season in program history on Friday, facing off against the Towson Tigers at noon in the 2013 East Carolina University Pirate Classic.
Friday’s game against Towson is the first of five which the ‘Cats will play this weekend. Later in the afternoon (4:30 p.m.), the Green and White will take on host East Carolina. Saturday’s schedule includes games against Cleveland State (1 p.m.) and East Carolina (5:30 p.m.), while Sunday will feature an 11 a.m. affair with Rider.
The 2012 season was a memorable one for Ohio Softball. The Bobcats posted a 28-29 overall record which included an impressive 14-8 mark in Mid-American Conference games. Ohio set an incredible number of program marks throughout the season, ones which can be seen below:

Prior to this season, Ohio was picked to finish second in the MAC East in the league’s annual preseason poll and had three student-athletes earn spots on CollegeSportsMadness.com’s Preseason All-MAC Teams.
