ATHENS, Ohio - The good news keeps on coming for the Ohio University Softball Team. Ohio claimed both Mid-American Conference East Division weekly awards this week, as Alyssa Wolfe was named the MAC East Player of the Week and Lauren McClary earned MAC East Pitcher of the Week honors.

Alyssa had a tremendous weekend for Ohio Softball, hitting .364 in five games at the 2013 University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Frost Classic. The junior's four hits came at clutch times during Ohio's games, as she slugged at a rate of 1.091. Wolfe (Junction City, Ohio) hit two home runs during the weekend, one of which (in the win against Niagara) was the first of her career and one of the walk-off variety. Her second home run of the tournament was a game-winner against Tennessee Tech, pulling the `Cats from a one-run deficit to a one-run advantage in the top of the seventh inning. Wolfe only struck out two times in 12 plate appearances and ran the bases quite well, scoring five times throughout the weekend. Her seven RBI tied for the team lead throughout the weekend and had a large role in Ohio going 4-1 at the tournament.

Lauren also had a strong weekend for the Bobcats, posting a 2-1 record in three appearances at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Frost Classic. The sophomore threw a complete game shutout of North Carolina Central on Friday, allowing just two hits and while posting a WHIP of 0.40 in five innings of work. McClary struck out six batters in this game. Following her lone loss of the tournament against Lipscomb, McClary bounced back in a big way, throwing 4.2 innings of one-run softball against Boston College. Lauren allowed just two hits in the game against the Eagles and posted a 1.50 ERA in this contest. Throughout the entire weekend, McClary (Pasadena, Texas) posted an impressive 3.00 ERA, struck out 11 batters, and allowed just nine hits and six walks.

Ohio posted a 4-1 mark at the UTC Frost Classic and at 11-3 is off to its best start since the 1994 season.
