ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University softball team (12-8) looks to return to its winning ways as it concludes its 2014 spring break trip with a visit to the Bluegrass State.

The Bobcats will take part in the Red and Black Classic this weekend (March 7-9) in Louisville, Ky. Ohio will play five games over three days, taking on Ohio State (12:30 p.m. ET) and Illinois State (5:30 p.m. ET) on Friday (March 7), battling UMass (10 a.m. ET) and host Louisville (5 p.m. ET) on Saturday (March 8). The 'Cats close the weekend by taking on the Cardinals again on Sunday (March 9) at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Costly Third Innings Bite `Cats Twice
Three was not the lucky number for Ohio as a pair of big third innings cost the `Cats in falling to Illinois State 10-2 and to No. 15/13 Texas 11-5 on the second day of the Tennessee Classic Saturday afternoon.

Ohio Earns Split in San Diego
The Ohio softball team split a doubleheader Saturday evening at the San Diego State Softball Stadium in the San Diego Classic II, defeating Louisville 7-5 and falling to the host Aztecs 8-0 in six innings.

The Bobcats dropped a Wednesday (March 5) doubleheader at Lipscomb (17-3) by scores of 2-1 and 9-4 at Draper Diamond in Nashville, Tenn.

Senior Alexandria Basquez (Elk Grove, Calif.) and junior Dakota Pyles (Galloway, Ohio) led the way at the plate with two hits apiece in game one. In game two, sophomore Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) and sophomore Amanda Dalton (Salem, Va.) paced the bats with two hits apiece.

Ohio returns to Athens to play its first home games of the 2014 season, meeting Wright State next Wednesday (March 12) in a doubleheader that is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. ET.
