ATHENS, Ohio - Lauren Gellerman of the Ohio University Softball Team (13-6) kept up her impressive week on Friday, earning Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week honors. The league recognition comes just three days after she was named MAC East Player of the Week for the second time in 2013.
Gellerman (3.904 GPA, Integrated Mathematics) was the most productive player in Ohio Softball's offense last week, hitting .571 in five games. The senior recorded eight hits, two of which were doubles and three were home runs. Gellerman drove in a team-high nine RBI, slugging at an incredible pace of 1.357 throughout the week. The senior also scored a team-high five runs in five games. Gellerman made Ohio Softball history on Thursday night, hitting her 28th career home run to become Ohio's all-time home runs leader. The senior then added two more to her total throughout the weekend, bringing her current mark to 30.
