Gellerman is hitting .425 and slugging .938 through 25 games this season

ATHENS, Ohio – Lauren Gellerman (San Diego, Calif.) of the Ohio University softball team (15-10) has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The award is her third such honor and the Bobcats’ sixth Player/Pitcher of the Week award this season.
Gellerman’s award is her fourth overall and seventh for Ohio Softball in 2013, as she was also named a MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week on March 15.
Lauren had a very strong week for Ohio Softball, leading the team in hits (6), home runs (2), total bases (13), runs scored (3), and slugging percentage (1.083) in the Bobcats’ four games. Gellerman recorded at least one hit in all four of Ohio’s games during the week, registering multiple hits in two of the contests. The senior added to her program-leading home run leading home run total during the week, belting two round-trippers in back-to-back wins over Canisius. Lauren had her best day of the week on Saturday against the Golden Griffins, going 4-5 from the plate, hitting two home runs, driving in two runs, and slugging at a rate of 1.667 or higher in each game. The senior would end the week slugging at a rate of 1.083 while only striking out once in 12 at bats.
Ohio will next be in action on Friday, March 29 at Kent State. The Bobcats and Golden Flashes will begin MAC play with a doubleheader commencing at 1 p.m.
