ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio softball team will take a brief break from conference play to face Wright State in a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. at the Ohio Softball Field.

Ohio spent last weekend at Akron for a two-game MAC series. The Bobcats lost game one, 6-2, on Saturday and closed out the weekend with a 3-2 loss on Sunday.

Wright State is coming off a three-game weekend series with Horizon League opponent UW-Green Bay. The Raiders dropped the first two games before winning 3-2 in the series finale.

Both teams have played 42 games this season. Ohio has an 18-24 record and Wright State has a 17-25 record.

A LOOK AT OHIO
Senior Debbie Szalejko (Beavercreek, Ohio) leads Ohio's offense with a .380 batting average, which is fourth in the Mid-American Conference. She has started all 42 games of the season and leads the team with 49 hits and three triples. Szalejko had her 14th multi-hit game of the season on Sunday, going 2-for-4 and extending her hitting streak to a team-best five games.

Senior Kelly Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) has a .360 batting average, which is the eighth best in the MAC. Rodriguez has hit a team-high four home runs, including two against Marshall in last Wednesday's doubleheader. She also leads the `Cats with 28 runners batted in and eight doubles.

Freshman Shalene Petrich (Chehalis, Wash.) bats .317 and has scored a team-high 21 runs. Petrich also has a team-high 21 stolen bases.

Freshman Candace Saucedo (Ontario, Calf.) contributes defensively and offensively. She leads all pitchers with a 2.51 ERA and has 29 strikeouts in 58.2 innings of work. At the plate, she has 12 hits, including a double and a triple.

With 121.2 innings under her belt, junior MIchelle Sauter (Chehalis, Wash.) has pitched the most of any other Bobcat in the No. 1 position. Her 2.59 ERA is top-10 in the MAC and her 12-9 record is one of the best in the league.

Overall the Bobcats bat .278 as a team and total 149 runs and 300 hits.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE
The Wright State Raiders have two players batting .300 or above. Jherica Williams leads the team with a .352 batting average and has scored a team-high 39 runs. She also leads the team with 43 hits, 22 steals, 11 doubles and three triples. Kristen Bradshaw has a .331 batting average with 41 hits and 31 runs. She also has a team-high 30 RBI.

Jamie Perkins and Allison Cox have split the starts in the circle this year with 21 each. Perkins has a 3.68 ERA with 139 innings pitched and a 7-14 record. Cox has a 5.17 ERA with 126 innings pitched and a 10-11 record.

Overall the Raiders bat .256 as a team and total 165 runs and 277 hits.
