AKRON, Ohio - Announced at the Mid-American Conference Softball Tournament today, Ohio senior Courtney Waters was named first-team All-MAC, senior Michelle Sauter was named second-team All-MAC, and freshmen Melissa Bonner and Emily Wethington were named to the All-MAC Freshman Team.

Waters (Eagle River, Alaska) finished the conference season with a .389 batting average. On the overall season, Waters batted .344, while leading the Bobcats with 54 hits and 53 runs scored. Waters finishes her career on Ohio's all-time career runs, walks and stolen bases lists. Waters is sixth all-time with 89 runs scored, fourth with 55 career walks, and fifth with 40 steals. This season, Waters set a new single-season record with 41 runs scored, while also holding single-season records with 22 walks in 2008 and 14 steals in 2005. Altogether, she has played in 188 games, tallies 133 hits, 37 RBI, and two home runs in her four-year tenure. Last season, Waters was named to the All-MAC Second Team.

Sauter (Chehalis, Wash.) took the reign as Ohio's all-time leader in career strikeouts and wins this season. She has struck out a program-best 404 batters in her career and has won 46 games. She is also tied for first place in the Bobcat record book for most appearances made with 139. She has pitched a total of 635.1 innings with a current career ERA of 2.25, which is top-10 all-time. Sauter has pitched 14 completes game, and is tied second all-time with 11 career shutouts. She also holds 14 single-season records.

Bonner (Kings Mills, Ohio) finished the conference season leading the Bobcats with a .400 batting average. Bonner totaled 14 hits during MAC play and scored four runs. Overall, Bonner has a team-best 26 RBI with 36 hits, 10 doubles, and a .353 batting average.
 

 

With 127 strikeouts on the season, Wethington (New Palestine, Ind.) broke into Ohio's single-season records list. Wethington pitched and batted for the Bobcats and finished the season with a 2.59 ERA and a .266 batting average. In the circle, Wethington won four MAC games and 11 games overall. At bat, she had 25 hits, including two doubles and a team-high four home runs.
