Lauren Gellerman earned her second straight First Team All-MAC honor on Tuesday

ATHENS, Ohio – Lauren Gellerman (San Diego, Calif.) of the Ohio University softball team has been named to the 2013 All-MAC First Team, the Mid-American Conference league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the second straight one for the Bobcat senior, as she was also named to the All-MAC First Team at the end of the 2012 season.
Ohio’s honors did not end there, however. Senior Chelsea Hortman (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named to the All-MAC Second Team while freshman Savannah Jo Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Current Mid-American Conference single-season home run record-holder with 24 this season … Currently ranks No. 2 in the NCAA in total home runs … Ranked No. 4 in the country in home runs per game … Ranked No. 4 in the country in slugging percentage (.963) … Sixth best batting average in the MAC in league games (.403) … Ranks No. 1 in Ohio program history in career home runs, career RBI, and single season home runs … Two-time MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week in 2013 … Four-time MAC East Player of the Week in 2013 … Ranks No. 3 in career home runs in the MAC record book (46).
Hitting .309 and slugging at a rate of .652 … Has hit 11 extra-base hits on the year, five of which are home runs … Has recorded 18 RBI in just 69 at bats on the year … Perfect 2-2 on stolen-base attempts this season … Has played in 38 games this season, starting 19.

Three-time MAC East Pitcher of the Week … Ranks No. 70 in the NCAA in total strikeouts (176) … Ranks No. 102 in the NCAA in total shutouts (4) … Leads Ohio in ERA (3.49), wins (14), appearances (40), complete games (10), innings pitched (164.1), strikeouts (176), and opposing batting average (.239) … Ranks sixth in the MAC during league games in innings pitched (75.2) … One pitching win away from tying for the sixth most single-season wins in Ohio program history … 16 strikeouts away from recording the second most single-season strikeouts in program history.
Ohio will next be in action on Wednesday, May 8 at the MAC Tournament. The No. 6 seed Bobcats will play No. 7 seed Bowling Green at 1:30 p.m. in Akron, Ohio. All games of the tournament will be played at Firestone Stadium.
