Ohio Falls To Bowling Green In The Ninth Inning, 6-1

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Bowling Green scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to post a 6-1 win over Ohio on Friday in the Mid-American Conference softball tournament.
With the score tied 1-1, the Falcons exploded in the extra session to advance to play the winner of the Ball State-Kent State game.
Bowling Green scored its first two runs on a single by Kandice Machain while Angie Domschot delivered a single to left center that scored two more runs. The Falcons rounded out their scoring with an unearned run to give them a commanding 6-1 advantage going into the bottom of the ninth.
The game was a pitching duel between Ohio's Val Wood and BGSU's Andrea Genter and Jody Johnson. Neither team could get a run across the plate in the first six innings.
Bowling Green took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Libby Voshell had an RBI double to drive in the first run of the game.
Ohio countered with a run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Sara Melvin drove in the game-tying run for the Bobcats.
Johnson picked up the win in relief. She gave up three hits and one run in six innings of work to raise her record to 10-2.
Ohio is eliminated from the tournament with an 0-2 record.
