Bolton, Bankert and Chapman Named to All-Tournament Team

Ohio's Tiffany Bolton (left), Kelli Bankert (middle) and Erin Chapman were each named to the MAC All-Tournament Team on May 11th.

AKRON, Ohio – Tiffany Bolton, Kelli Bankert and Erin Chapman were named to the All-Mid-American Conference Tournament team Saturday. The announcement came shortly after Central Michigan was crowned with its fourth-consecutive MAC Championship.
The Chippewas, who defeated the Zips 6-0 in the finals, had four representatives on the all-tournament team – seniors Lindsay Horvath and Becky Manson, and sophomores Karly McCormack and Amber Puchalski. McCormack and Puchalski were also named Co-MVP’s of the tournament.
Seniors Kerstin Sewell and Lisa Keenan represented the runners-up Akron Zips, while junior Erin Malloch was named to the team from Western Michigan.
Bankert (Clifton, Va.) led the Bobcats with nine hits in 17 at-bats for a .529 batting average. The junior had a double, scored a run and drove one in.
Bolton (Fairfax, Va.) drove in a team-high seven RBI in Ohio’s five games and hit a walk-off home run to win the Bobcats’ first game of the tournament against Northern Illinois in the eighth inning. In addition to her third homer of the season – a new career high - hit a double and a triple and scored three runs. For the weekend, Bolton hit .412 (7-17) and reached base in all but one game.
Chapman (Beavercreek) became Ohio’s all-time home run leader with a pair against the Huskies in the tournament opener. Overall, she scored four runs, drove in five and stole a base while batting .286 (4-14).
As a group, the three players hit .417 (20-48) with eight runs scored, three home runs and 13 runs batted in.
