CLEVELAND-Ohio softball seniors Erin Chapman (Beavercreek) and Kiersten Scrima (Olympia, Wash.) were named to the All-Mid-American Conference Softball team on Wednesday, the league office announced. Chapman earned first-team honors while Scrima was named to the second team.

This is the third time in her career that Chapman has earned All-MAC status, having been named to the second team in both 2001 and 2003. She led Ohio in nearly every offensive category this season, with team highs in batting average (.341), triples (1), homeruns (8), runs batted in (36), slugging percentage (.578) and on-base percentage (.448). She set the school record for most homeruns in a season with eight and moved into first place on the career runs scored list.

Scrima posted a .305 batting average and led Ohio with 51 hits, 13 doubles and 78 total bases, all career highs. She played in all 49 games for Ohio, starting 48 of them at second base. In the field, Scrima recorded a .917 fielding percentage with 100 putouts and 87 assists while turning four double plays.

The No. 5 seed Ohio (20-29, 13-11) begins the 2004 MAC Tournament on Thursday with a contest against No. 4 Miami. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. The winner advances to face top seed Central Michigan at 7:30.
