Dorsey Named NFCA Second Team All-Mideast Region

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio softball redshirt senior pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Second Team, the NFCA announced today.

This is the second time Dorsey (Grove City, Ohio) has been named Second Team All-Mideast Region and will be eligible to earn All-American status.

Dorsey wrapped up the regular season with a 1.13 ERA and an overall record of 25-9, which has helped the Bobcats to a 42-18 season which helped the Bobcats win a program high 42 wins and help them get off to their best start since 1995 while winning the Mid-American Conference East Division title. Dorsey allowed only 40 earned runs in 247.0 innings and struck out 360 batters, which is second in the nation. Her 360 strikeouts broke her own record for strikeouts in a season.

This season she has only allowed 35 extra base hits, including 18 doubles and 14 home runs, and opponents are hitting only .140 against her. In conference, Dorsey finished the season 9-3 with a 1.59 ERA. In 96.2 innings, Dorsey has struck outs 167 batters and opponents are only hitting .147 against her.

This season, Dorsey struck out a career-high 22 batters on April 12 against Kent State and on April 23, Dorsey took a no-hitter in to the ninth-inning of a game against Bowling Green. Also this season, Dorsey registered her 1,000 career strikeout, making her the first pitcher in Ohio history to do so and she is currently second all-time in MAC history in strikeouts, finishing her career with 1,194 strikeouts.

In the nation, Dorsey finished sixth in strikeouts per seven innings (11.1), third in hits allowed per seven innings (3.27), 15th in ERA (1.15)

Dorsey was also named First Team All-MAC and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
