ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University softball team released its 2013 fall schedule on Tuesday afternoon. Highlighted by the sixth-annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 12, the fall slate includes four dates of competition, three of which will be at the Ohio Softball Field in Athens.
Ohio begins the fall schedule with a home doubleheader against Marshall on Sunday, Sept. 29. First pitch between the Bobcats and Thundering Herd is slated for 1 p.m. from the Ohio Softball Field.
In 2013, the Thundering Herd completed its best season in program history, winning the Conference USA tournament for the first time in program history and winning one game (Notre Dame) in the NCAA Regionals. Marshall defeated Ohio in a doubleheader last season, winning 4-0 and 3-2 in Athens on April 17.
The next date on the fall schedule is a home doubleheader with Charleston (W.Va.) on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. Ohio took down Charleston by a final score of 3-0 in last season's fall exhibition meeting.
Ohio will then play two games at the 2013 Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic in Columbus on Sunday, Oct. 6. The Bobcats will match up with host Ohio State (10:30 a.m.) and Hillsdale (12:45 p.m.) at the competition. At this same event last fall, the Green and White took down the Buckeyes by a 4-2 count.
Ohio will then host its sixth-annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
