ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Softball kicks off the fall portion of its 2012-13 schedule this weekend, competing in events both on the road and at home. The Bobcats will compete at the 2012 Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic on Saturday before coming home to host Ohio Valley and Charleston (W.Va.) on Sunday.
Fred Beekman Park on the Ohio State University campus will be the site for all of Saturday's games. The Charity Classic, which benefits the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, has grown into one of the biggest fundraisers for breast cancer awareness in Central Ohio, raising nearly $150,000 in the past decade.
The Bobcats will match up with Wright State (Field No. 1) at 11 a.m. before matching up with Ohio Dominican (Field No. 1) at 1:15 p.m. Ohio will then conclude its participation at the tournament against Ohio State (Field No. 2) at 3:30 p.m.
Ohio wraps up the weekend on Sunday, hosting Ohio Valley and Charleston (W.Va.) at the Ohio Softball Field. The Bobcats will host Ohio Valley at 11 a.m. before taking on Charleston at 1 p.m. Following the Ohio - Charleston contest, Ohio Valley and Charleston will meet up in a neutral-site contest at the Ohio Softball Field.
At the conclusion of this weekend's action, Ohio Softball will have two more events on its fall schedule. The Bobcats will play a doubleheader at Marshall on Oct. 7 before hosting the fifth annual Alumni Game on Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.
