ATHENS, Ohio – Coming off a very successful fall weekend during which Ohio Softball went 5-0 and collected a win at Ohio State, the Bobcats prepare to hit the road once more and travel to Huntington, W.Va. The Bobcats and the Marshall Thundering Herd will meet up for a Sunday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
In its first weekend of fall play, Ohio relied on solid pitching and timely hitting to post a 5-0 mark. At the 2012 Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic in Columbus, the Bobcats beat Wright State (5-2), Ohio Dominican (2-1) and host Ohio State (4-2). Ohio then came home the next day and took down visiting Ohio Valley (6-0) and Charleston (3-0) to end the weekend.
Marshall has played six games during the 2012 fall season. The Thundering Herd began the schedule with losses to Kentucky (11-6) and the NPF All-Stars (8-1) before putting together a four-game winning streak which included victories over Ohio Valley (5-3), Charleston (5-0) and West Virginia State (3-0 and 5-3).
The doubleheader against Marshall is the final game action of the 2012 fall season. Ohio Softball will conclude the fall calendar by hosting its fifth annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.
