Bobcats host Fighting Irish in rematch of 2009 thriller
2012: Named to MAC All-Freshman Team...Saw action in 103 sets and all 31 matches...Led the Bobcats with 970 assists and ranked ninth in the conference with 9.42 assists/set...At least 30 assists in 18 matches, including the last 10 of the season...Five double-doubles in 2012...Posted 87 kills and hit at a team-best .367 on the year...Tied for third on Ohio with 226 digs (2.19 digs/set) and added 53 total blocks...Recorded six kills, 40 assists and nine digs vs. No. 7 Illinois (Aug. 25)...Hit at .875, recorded a season-best seven kills and added a team-high 34 assists vs. Montana State (Sept. 8)...Tied a season high with 19 digs and added 29 assists in a win at Miami on Sept. 22...Recorded 42 assists in back-to-back victories over Western Michigan (Oct. 20) and Miami (Oct. 26)...Also tied a season-high with 19 digs vs. the RedHawks...Notched a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs while adding six kills at Central Michigan (Nov. 3)...Recorded a season-best 53 assists and chipped in 14 digs in the MAC Tournament semifinals vs. Northern Illinois (Nov. 17)...Registered a team-best 46 assists and added eight digs in the season finale win vs. Notre Dame (Nov. 23).
Prior to Ohio: Gilleland was All-Conference and Academic All-Conference the last two seasons at Marian Central Catholic. The career assists leader for the Hurricanes now ranks among the top 15 all-time in the state of Illinois. Gilleland was named all-area by the Northwest Herald, Chicago Sun Times and Daily Gazette in 2010 after leading them to a third-place finish in the state tournament. Gilleland is ranked No. 82 on the PrepVolleyball Top 100 list and played her club ball with Sky High. She was a two-time AAU MVP for the national champions, the same club team as current Bobcat Kelly Lamberti.
