ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Volleyball opened the 2012 spring schedule with a match against Ohio State this past weekend.
"We came out and played really well, taking two of three during the morning wash drills and winning the first set during the scrimmage," Head Coach Ryan Theis said. "However, we were not able to sustain that level of play which is expected after about five days of practice."
The Bobcats topped the Buckeyes in the first set, 25-19, but dropped the next three. Kelly Lamberti finished with 17 kills and 15 digs for the Green and White while Chelsea Bilger added 12 kills. Leah Petrovich notched three aces, Mollie Geske racked up 14 digs and Ohio out-blocked OSU 13-7.
"I thought it was a great experience to play a team like Ohio State in front of our fans. We always have such great support from the community and I think the match itself will help us grow," Theis said. "I thought we looked really good at times but we did have some patches where we will need to improve."
Ohio has this weekend off before taking part in the KIVA College Tournament in Louisville, Ky. on April 14.
