Green & White Signals Start of Season for Ohio Volleyball

ATHENS, Ohio - White came back and defeated Green this afternoon in the annual Ohio Volleyball scrimmage 21-25, 25-22, 25-22. Sophomore Kelly Lamberti was tops in the match with 22 kills. 

Sophomore Serena Warner had eight kills, redshirt sophomore Liis Kullerkann and sophomore Chelsea Bilger each had seven kills and Faith Robins finished with six kills. Sophomore Hannah Burkle was tops among both squads with four blocks and senior Leah Petrovich, along with freshman Karin Bull, notched three blocks.

Freshman Abby Gilleland and Petrovich led the team in assists while Kelly Colyar, Mollie Geske, Meredith Ashy and Carley Jones were solid on the back lines for both teams. 

The Bobcats will open the regular season this Friday afternoon at the Flyer Classic against No. 11 Pepperdine at 4 p.m. Ohio then plays No. 7 Illinois on Saturday at 5 p.m. and host Dayton on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Ohio begins home play the following weekend, Aug. 31 - Sept. 2, with matches against No. 13 Kentucky, No. 20 Oregon and Western Carolina.

Prior to the scrimmage, Ohio held its first installment of the 2012 Little Bobcats Club. The two remaining Little Bobcat clinics of 2012 will take place on Sept. 2 and Sept. 29. The Sept. 2 installment will follow Ohio's match with No. 20 Oregon at 11 a.m. The Sept. 29 clinic will start at 9 a.m.
