Blackburn Reaches Milestone as Ohio wins

ATHENS, Ohio - Junior Stephanie Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) garnered 1,000 career digs as No. 21 Ohio defeated Toledo, 3-0 (30-18, 30-23, 30-24). Blackburn registered 12 digs for a career total of 1,005. She's second best on the team with 4.66 digs per game and has nine double-doubles so far this season. "Stephanie is probably the best overall player Ohio has ever seen," said Head Coach Geoff Carlston. "She does it offensively and defensively. I'm proud of her. To reach 1,000 digs as a junior is very significant. She works extremely hard for everything she gets and I'm excited for her. " Michaele Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) is Ohio's all-time leader in digs. She tallied a match-high 19 digs today for a career total of 1,820. She's 70 digs away from the NCAA Top 25 in career digs. She averages a team-best 4.80 digs per game. Ellen Herman (Toledo, Ohio) led the Bobcat attack with 16 kills. Stephanie Blackburn and Melissa Griffin (Whitehall, Mich.) each contributed eight kills and Amanda Andersen (Lino Lakes, Minn.) had seven. Savanah Parra (Temecula, Calif.) set Ohio's offense with 36 assists and chipped in four kills on a team-best .500 hitting. Sarah Kreher led Toledo with 10 kills and Emi Holsclaw totaled 35 assists. Ohio out-hit Toledo .275 to .114 and had 18 blocks to Toledo's four. Jane Sytsma (Madison, Wis.) had a team-high five blocks for Ohio. Ohio is on a six-match winning streak and has 38 consecutive conference wins during the regular season. The Bobcats are 14-3 overall and 6-0 in the MAC.
