ATHENS, Ohio -
The Ohio University volleyball team delivered 300 Valentine's Day balloons to senior citizens throughout the Athens Community Sunday as part of the annual Heart-To-Heart program, sponsored by Kroger.

It marks the third-straight year that the Bobcats have participated in the program. Ohio student-athletes split into two groups to deliver the balloons to seniors at The Laurels of Athens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Columbus Road, as well as the Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains.

The Bobcats also delivered Valentine's cards signed by Kroger shoppers who donated the balloons as part of the Heart-To-Heart campaign.

"A lot of our residents don't have families, so to receive a Valentine's Day surprise and to be able to meet some new faces, it just makes their day," The Laurels activities director Lisa Snyder said.

Joining the student-athletes during the delivery were Ohio head coach Ryan Theis and assistant coaches Meghan Keck and Ryan Walthall.

The Ohio volleyball spring schedule kicks off March 23 as the Bobcats battle Toledo in Maumee, Ohio.
