Ryan Theis

Feb. 14, 2014

ATHENS, Ohio - Ryan Theis has resigned his position as the head coach of the women's volleyball program at Ohio University, the school announced today. He has accepted the same position at Marquette University.

"Ryan has done a tremendous job during his six seasons," said Ohio University Athletics Director Jim Schaus. "He will be missed. I am happy for him to be able to go back to his home state."

Theis led the Bobcats to four NCAA berths and two tournament victories in his six years with the program. Ohio captured four MAC Tournament Championships and three regular season league titles. During his tenure, Theis mentored four All-Americans, four AVCA All-Region student-athletes, 23 All-MAC selections and 19 Academic All-MAC picks.

"Over the past decade, we have built a national level program in volleyball and are committed to its future success," Schaus added. "I am confident that we will attract and hire a very high caliber coach who will continue to lead Ohio Volleyball to excellence in the future."

The department will begin a national search immediately.
