Ohio Volleyball to Host Spring and Summer Camps
March 17, 2006 ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio volleyball head coach Geoff Carlston, who led the Bobcats to their first ever trip to the Sweet 16 last year, and his staff will be putting on a spring clinic and team and individual summer camps starting April 2. The first of three spring clinic sessions is Sunday, April 2. The second session will be held Sunday, April 30 and the final session is scheduled Sunday, May 7. All three spring clinic sessions will be held from 1-3 p.m. and will be held in the Convocation Center and are open for those between the ages of 6 and 18. There will be a $10 charge for each session. New skills will be taught at each session with players from the team participating in the activities. A tournament and pizza party will be held at the end of the clinic and attendees can sign up for next year's Little Bobcat program. The Bobcats will host the individual summer camp July 7-9 for those who will be in grades 7-12 during the 2005-06 school year. There is a charge of $275 for those staying on the Ohio University campus and a $215 charge for those commuting to the camp. The Ohio staff promises each participant will become a better all-around player and will learn the elite-level skills used by top collegiate teams. Each camper will leave better prepared, both physically and mentally, to compete at a new level of volleyball. The team summer camp will be held July 11-13 for those who will be in grades 7-12 during the 2005-06 school year. There is a charge of $200 for those staying on the Ohio University campus and a $150 charge for those commuting to camp. Each participant in the team camp will become a stronger passer, server, blocker, and defensive and offensive player by the end of camp and will have the opportunity to compete in games to put practice skills into action. The team camp consists of two sessions of drills and individual skills, three sessions of competition and one session of team-building activities. A team tournament will be held at the conclusion of the camp. Transportation will be provided from the Columbus airport for those campers in need.
