Athens, Ohio - The Side-Out Foundation has presented a 2009 Philanthropic Achievement Award to the Ohio University volleyball team. This past year, the team helped raise more than $1,000 for the foundation's Dig Pink initiative.

The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Through volleyball tournaments, clinics and other events, Side-Out raises funds to donate to organizations that share our idea of a cancer-free world.

Last year, the Bobcats were able to have a season-high 2,922 fans turn out for their Second Annual Dig Pink Night in the Convo against Miami. The Ohio University marketing department held a handful of contests and did a number of promotions at the match, one of which included the handing out of pink t-shirts to the first 500 fans in attendance.
