MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -

Ohio University rising senior outside hitter Ellen Herman will join her teammates on the U.S. Women’s National A2 Team in a charitable intrasquad scrimmage on May 21, USA Volleyball announced in a release on Sunday.

Herman (Toledo, Ohio) is in her second stint with the A2 Team, which is set to train in Minneapolis from May 18-22 before competing in the Open Division of the USA Adult Volleyball Open Championships from May 23-26. In 2008, Herman was named Most Valuable Player of the same tournament after leading the A2 Team to its first title in four years.

Co-hosted by the Minnesota One Volleyball Club and USA Volleyball, the scrimmage is open to the public with a $5 admission charge. All proceeds will benefit Meghan Bergman, a local gymnast who sustained severe injuries during a competition in January.

Bergman’s injuries have resulted in nine surgeries to repair two broken legs and arterial damage. For more information on Bergman’s story, visit her Caring Bridge website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/meghanbergman.
