ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University head volleyball coach Ryan Theis announced on Thursday that Ashley Jordan has been welcomed as a member of the Bobcat program and will begin competing with the team in the 2009 season.

Jordan (Frankfort, Ohio) was a two-time all-state selection at Adena High School, earning first-team accolades as a senior. She garnered Scioto Valley Conference and Ohio District 14 Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2008 after averaging 4.45 kills per set.

"Ashley's physical attributes will translate well into the collegiate game once she gets more experience at this level," Theis said. "We're excited to welcome her to our program, and we know she'll be an asset for us, both on the court and in the classroom."

Jordan wrapped up her high school career as the Adena rally-scoring record holder for kills in a match (26), season (338) and career (967), as well as career blocks (266). She led the Warriors to a 56-0 conference record, a 115-match home winning streak and a berth in the 2006 state final four during her tenure.

Jordan will join a 2009 freshman class that includes early signees Lexie Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.), Leah Petrovich (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Faith Robins (Winston Salem, N.C.).

The Bobcats will kick off the 2009 season on Aug. 29, when they take on South Dakota at 8 p.m. ET in the first of three matches at the InnTowner Invitational in Madison, Wis.
