ATHENS, Ohio - Catch the Ohio volleyball team in action before the season begins at its annual Green and White exhibition match at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, August 18.
Saturday also marks the the start of the eighth-annual Little Bobcats program. The first 90-minute clinic is set for noon, prior to the Green & White. Pizza will be provided for all LBC members. There is no cost to join the Little Bobcats, and registration can be completed via email or traditional mail. After the match, the team will hold its second annual Preseason Cookout. Come join Coach Theis, his coaching staff and the 2012 Bobcats for food and fun. The event will be held at the Richland Avenue Park area near the Ohio University Inn. Cost is $25 per person. For additional questions, please contact volleyball@ohio.edu or call 740-593-0211. Fans, don't forget to purchase season and individual match tickets for this season. Season tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for anyone ages 3-18. General admission seats for all regular season home events are $5 each and student get in free with an Ohio ID. To purchase single game tickets, call 800-575-CATS (2287) or visit the Ohio Athletics Ticket Office inside the Convocation Center.
Ohio returns nine letterwinners from last season's MAC East Championship, including All-MAC First Team selection Kelly Lamberti, second-team choice Lexie Hartnett and All-Freshman honoree Chelsea Bilger. That trio, combined with returning starter Faith Robins, two defensive specialists that played every game in 2011, Mollie Geske and Kelly Colyar, and upperclassman Leah Petrovich make the Bobcats a formidable opponent. Ohio also added six newcomers for this upcoming season, including two transfers.
The Bobcats’ non-conference schedule is highlighted by two home tournaments and contests with four top-25 opponents. No. 13 Kentucky, No. 20 Oregon and Notre Dame visit the Convocation Center so make sure to come out and support Ohio Volleyball!
