AVCA Coaches Poll
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University volleyball team (8-1) is nationally ranked for the first time this season after appearing in the No. 24 spot in Monday’s AVCA Division I Coaches Poll.
The Bobcats achieved the national ranking after posting a 3-0 mark against top-level competition at this past weekend’s WKU Invitational in Bowling Green, Ky. The Bobcats defeated UNLV (3-0) on Friday and upended then-No. 21 Western Kentucky (3-0) and Virginia (3-0) on Saturday.
Today’s ranking marks the first time the Bobcats have appeared in the AVCA Poll since 2007, when the ‘Cats achieved their highest ranking (No. 13) in program history. The Bobcats have been ranked on 44 occasions all-time, which puts the ‘Cats 57th nationally in that category.
Ohio returns to action this weekend at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. The ‘Cats face Maryland (1 p.m.) and Marshall (5:30 p.m.) on Friday before battling No. 10 Michigan on Saturday at 7 p.m.
