Volleyball Moves Up To No. 22 In AVCA Poll

AVCA Coaches Poll

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University volleyball team (10-2) checked in at No. 22 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll released Monday.

The Bobcats moved up two spots from last week after posting a 2-1 record this past weekend at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Ohio defeated Maryland (3-0) and Marshall (3-1) on Friday and fell to No. 10 Michigan in a hard-fought, five set match on Saturday.

Penn State (9-1) is ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Poll for the second-straight week, while Washington (8-0), Florida (11-1), USC (10-1) and Texas (6-2) round out the top five. The Bobcats are ranked in front of Creighton (No. 23), Illinois (No. 24) and Iowa State (No. 25).

Ohio opens Mid-American Conference play this weekend with a two-match road swing. The Bobcats play at Buffalo (12-1) on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m., then wrap up the trip with a 5 p.m. contest at Akron (6-5) on Sept. 28.
