Volleyball Climbs To No. 20 In AVCA Poll

AVCA Coaches Poll - Week 5

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University volleyball team (12-2, 2-0 MAC) checks in at No. 20 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll released Monday.

The Bobcats moved up two spots for the second straight week after sweeping its two-match road trip to open Mid-American Conference play. Ohio won at Buffalo (3-1) on Friday then took down Akron in straight sets on Saturday. Ohio has now been ranked for three-straight weeks in the national poll.

Undefeated Washington (10-0) took over the top spot this week and is joined in the top-5 by No. 2 USC (12-1), No. 3 Florida (13-1), No. 4 Texas (8-2) and No. 5 Penn State (10-2).

The Bobcats are ranked in front of Oregon (No. 21), Creighton (No. 22), Wisconsin (No. 23), Purdue (No. 24) and Iowa State (No. 25).

No. 20 Ohio returns to the Convocation Center for the first time in almost a month this weekend. The Bobcats host rival Miami Friday night at 7 p.m. before battling Bowling Green Saturday at 7 p.m. The match against the Falcons will mark Ohio’s annual “Dig Pink” night.
