AVCA Coaches Poll - Week 6
ATHENS, Ohio – After sweeping a pair of MAC rivals this past weekend, the Ohio University volleyball team (14-2, 4-0 MAC) has moved up to No. 18 in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, released Monday.
The Bobcats moved up two spots for the third straight week after sweeping its two-match home stand against MAC East rivals Miami (3-1) and Bowling Green (3-0). Ohio has now been ranked for four-straight weeks in the national poll after debuting at No. 24 on Sept. 16.
USC (10-0) took over the top spot this week and is joined in the top-5 by No. 2 Florida (15-1), No. 3 Texas (10-2), No. 4 Penn State (12-2) and No. 5 Hawai’i (15-1).
The Bobcats are ranked in front of Wisconsin (No. 19), Purdue (No. 20), Florida State (No. 21), Oregon (No. 22), UCLA (No. 23), BYU (No. 24) and Missouri (No. 25).
No. 18 Ohio returns to action with a two-match road swing this weekend. The ‘Cats play at Kent State (8-9, 2-2 MAC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. before battling Eastern Michigan (11-8, 1-3 MAC) Saturday at 7 p.m. in Ypsilanti, Mich.
