ATHENS, Ohio - For the second time this season, Ohio Volleyball earned both MAC East Weekly Awards. Senior Faith Robins earned the first league award of her career as she was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Meredith Ashy won the second Defensive Player of the Week award of her freshman campaign.
Robins entered the weekend as one of the MAC’s league leaders in hitting percentage and increased that number after hitting .447 in two wins. She had a season-high 13 kills against rival Miami, hitting .429 for the Bobcats, and also added six blocks. Robins followed that with 10 kills, one shy of the team high, and once again hit over .400 against MAC co-leader Bowling Green on her Senior Night
Ashy has been a contributor from Day One for the Bobcats, leading the MAC with an average of 5.10 digs per set. This past weekend she notched a match-best 25 digs, one shy of her season high, in a win over Miami. Then against MAC co-leader BG, Ashy led the way once more with 14 digs.
Lamberti and Ashy join Chelsea Bilger, Serena Warner and Kelly Lamberti as MAC Weekly Award winners. Ashy joins Lamberti as the second Bobcat to have earned multiple weekly honors from the league this season.
Ohio starts a four-match road swing to lose the regular season this weekend. The Bobcats are at Kent State on Thursday night before traveling to play Central Michigan on Saturday evening.
