AVCA Release With Full List Of Honorees
ATHENS, Ohio - In a truly historic day for the Ohio University volleyball program, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Wednesday that sophomore setter Abby Gilleland (Bull Valley, Ill.) and junior outside hitter Kelly Lamberti (Cary, Ill.) have been named to the AVCA All-America honorable mention team.
It marks the first time in program history that two Bobcats have been named AVCA All-America and the first time since 2009 that an Ohio student-athlete has garnered the elite accolade.
The duo of Bobcats led Ohio to MAC regular season and tournament titles in 2013. The Green & White put together a 27-6 record in 2013 and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010.
"We're happy to have two All-Americans for the first time in our program's history," head coach Ryan Theis said. "Abby and Kelly have been so consistent for us over their careers at Ohio. It's great to see them recognized for their outstanding performances this season. They are model student-athletes both on and off the court and we are excited to have them back for another run at the MAC title next season."
