KERNERSVILLE, N.C. - The Ohio University women's cross country team claimed runner-up honors Friday night at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Ohio finished the event with 59 points.
Senior Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) was the top Ohio finisher for the second time in three events as she placed third in the 6-kilometer race in a time of 21:05.00. Junior Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) also finished in the top 10 as she ran a mark of 21:39.83 to place ninth.
"The women ran a strong team race beating Miami and finishing second overall behind Florida state, who is ranked 4th in the country in the national polls," said head coach Clay Calkins. "Juli Accurso led the way, but there were breakout performances by Morgan Reichert, Krista Roelig , Kayla Scott and Melissa Thompson."
Florida State won the event with a team total of 19 points, and team member Hannah Walker finished first overall in a mark of 20:42.71.
Next on the agenda for the Bobcats is a split-squad competition on Oct. 4. Half of the team will travel Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championships, while the others will head to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational. Both races are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
