SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Senior Juli Accurso paced the Ohio University women's cross country team Friday afternoon at the 2013 Notre Dame Invitational as she placed 28th. As a team, the Bobcats placed 16th out of 24 teams in the Blue Race.
The Blue Race featured some of the nation's top teams. In total, the Bobcats competed against six schools that are currently ranked in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Poll (Florida State, New Mexico, San Francisco, BYU, Princeton and Duke).
Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) finished the 5-kilometer race, clocking a time of 17:41.3. This is the third time in four events that Accurso has led the squad.
Sophomore Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and junior Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) were the next Bobcat finishers as they placed 81st (18:20.5) and 82nd (18:20.3) overall.
Duke's Juliet Bottorff won the event in a time of 16:43.8, while No. 2 ranked Florida State took home the team title.
Ohio returns to action on Oct. 19 when it travels to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in Pre-Nationals. The race is set to begin at 11:45 a.m.
