MUNCIE, Ind. - Ohio sophomore Juli Accurso clocked a time of 20:35.3 to win the individual crown at the 2011 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon at Muncie Elks Golf Course. As a team, the Bobcats placed fourth, finishing with 86 points.
Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) becomes the first Ohio runner to win the individual crown since Annie Beecham did so in 2008. She also became the fifth Bobcat to win the individual crown at the league championships.
Sophomore Emily Pifer (Canal Winchester, Ohio) also recorded a strong time as she clocked a performance of 21:17.6 to place seventh overall. Fellow sophomore Allison Stillwell (Zanesville, Ohio) was Ohio's third finisher as she placed 23rd, posting a time of 21:56.5.
Accurso and Pifer both received All-MAC First Team honors following their respective finishes.
Toledo won the MAC team title for the second-consecutive year. The Rockets placed four runners in the top 10.
Ohio returns to action on Nov. 12 as it heads to the 2011 NCAA Regional Championships in Toledo, Ohio.
