2013 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship Central
MADISON, Wis. - Senior Juli Accurso continues to make history as she, again, raced to victory Friday afternoon. Accurso won the 2013 NCAA Great Lakes Regional for the second year in a row in a school record mark of 20.00.
The 6- kilometer race was held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis.
Accurso's (Casstown, Ohio) winning mark paced the Ohio University women's cross country team, as they finished with 459 points to place 15th of the 34 teams that competed.
Accurso's triumph marks the third straight season in which Accurso has qualified for the NCAA Championship. She has now become victorious in two events and has placed in the top 5 four times in six events.
Just 13 days earlier, Accurso became the first runner in Mid-American Conference history to win three straight individual league titles.
Sophomore Caroline Hildebrand (Hilliard, Ohio) and senior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) also posted strong performances as they both finished in the top 100. Hildebrand placed 76th in a time of 22:04, while Thompson placed 96 in a mark of 22:24.
Michigan won the Great Lakes Regional for the third year in a row, finishing with 48 points.
