Ohio Releases 2012 Cross Country Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio - Visits to the Penn State, Notre Dame and an appearance at the 2012 Pre-National meet highlight the Ohio University men's and women's cross country schedules, which were announced today.

Ohio opens the season on Sept. 8 as it travels to State College, Pa. for the Harry Groves Invitational on Penn State's campus. The women's race will begin first at 11 a.m. with the men following 45 minutes later at 11:45 a.m.

The 'Cats will then come back to Athens on Sept. 15 for their lone home meet of the season at the Ohio Invitational where both men's and women's teams will look to defend its respective titles from last year's event. The meet begins at 2:30 p.m. with the women's race followed by the men's race at 3:15 p.m.

Five days after the Ohio Invitational, the Bobcats will for the Toledo Bubble Buster Invitational on Sept. 21. The event begins at 5 p.m. with the women's race and the men's race will get started at 6 p.m.

Following the Toledo Bubble Buster Invitational, the green and white will head to South Bend, Ind. to race against the Fighting Irish in the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 28, beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the women's race and the men's race at 3:15.

A day later the Bobcats will have to make the trip back to Ohio for the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville. Last year, both men's and women's teams posted top five finishes.

Ohio will then take a week off and return to action on Oct. 13 it takes part in the Pre-Nationals Championships in Louisville, Ky., a meet that features some of the top teams in country. The Men will start at 11 a.m. and the women 45 minutes later at 11:45 a.m.

The Bobcats will then have a two week break before they make the trip up to Buffalo, N.Y. for the MAC Championship on Oct. 27 on the campus of the University of Buffalo.

Postseason meets begin on Nov. 9 with the NCAA Regional in Madison, Wis. and will conclude with the NCAA Championship on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky.
