ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's cross country team jumped two spots and is now ranked No. 8 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Regional Poll.
With the two spot jump, the `Cats jump are now ahead of Big Ten teams Ohio State and Purdue and Big East squad Xavier. The green and white are also ahead of Mid-American Conference foes Miami (Ohio), Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
Last time out, Ohio notched a second-place finish at the Wake Forest Invitational in Kernersville, N.C. Senior Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) finished third in a time of 21:05.00 to lead the Bobcats. Junior Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) also finished in the top 10 as she ran a mark of 21:39.83 to place ninth.
The Bobcats return to action in a split-squad competition on Oct. 4. Half of the team will travel Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championships, while the others will head to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational. Both races are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
