ATHENS, OH-The Ohio cross country teams both tallied victories Saturday morning as they played host to the Ohio Invitational. The Bobcats welcomed Cleveland State, College of Charleston, as well as West Virginia Wesleyan at the morning meet.
The women finished with a total of 15 points, clinching eleven of the top twelve spots in the 5K race. Annie Beecham and Kari Summers took first and second overall (18:27.18 and 18:33.14, respectively). Melissa Thompson placed third (18:38.39), while Lauren Fett finished fourth (18:41.09). Allison Stillwell (fifth, 18:45.28), Abigail Swift (sixth, 18:46:74), Emily Pifer (seventh, 18:52.99), Juli Accurso (ninth, 19:14.28) and Hannah Charbel (10th, 19:19.02) rounded out the top ten with impressive performances.
The men also took first with 15 points in the 8K race. Ridge Robinson placed first with a strong performance (25:05.06), while Scott Meyers followed closely behind at third (25:20.81). Chris Davis (fourth, 25:31.26), Tyler Cantley (fifth, 25:34.30), Chase Robinson (sixth, 25:36.19), Noah Howkins (seventh, 25:40.25), Cory Irwin (eighth, 25:43.18) and Tyler Ames (10th, 25:50.92) also rounded out the list in a near sweep of the top ten spots.
The Cleveland State women finished second with 61 points, while West Virginia Wesleyan finished third with 75 and Charleston took fourth with 102. West Virginia Wesleyan also took second with 50 points.
The Bobcats will travel Cedarville, Ohio next weekend for the All-Ohio Championships.
