ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio's Annie Beecham was honored as the Co-Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on Nov. 6 by the league office, along with golfer Martina Gavier of Kent State.

Beecham, a junior from Granville, Ohio, boasts a 3.84 GPA in journalism. At the MAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1, she broke both the Ohio and MAC records for a 5K with her time of 16:56.8 on her way to the women's crown. She garnered first-team All-MAC honors for the second-consecutive year, bettering her sixth-place finish of last season. Her title is only the fourth in Ohio women's cross country history.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.

The Bobcats are gearing up for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Purdue University, on Nov. 15. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET with the women's 6K.
