ATHENS, Ohio - Junior Juli Accurso looks to add to her already impressive resume as she will take part in the 2012 NCAA Championships on Saturday at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. Accurso and the rest of the field will take the line at noon.
Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) will make her second-consecutive appearance at Nationals after she posted a winning performance at the 2012 Great Lakes Regional. During the 2011 Nationals, Accurso took home All-America honors after she placed 36th.
The women's side will feature 38 individual qualifiers from across the country. Each runner qualified by placing in the top 25 of their respective region.
Accurso will be the lone representative from Ohio.
Accurso was named the 2012 Great Lakes Region Runner of the Year on Tuesday for her winning performance at the Great Lakes Regional. She became the first Ohio women's cross country runner to win a NCAA Regional event as she finished in a school record time of 20:07.
Three weeks earlier, she captured the Mid-American Conference individual crown for the second-consecutive year. In 2012, Accurso has finished in the top three on five separate occasions.
