ATHENS, Ohio - Juli Accurso was named the Great Lakes Regional Runner of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association for the second year in a row.
Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) recently won the Great Lakes Regional for the second consecutive year in a school-record time of 20:00, defeating Big Ten champion Erin Finn of Michigan.
The senior has finished in the top 5 four times in six events this season. Two of those top five finishes have been victories (Great Lakes Regionals and Mid-American Conference Championships).
Accurso won the MAC Championships for the third-consecutive year, finishing in a time of 20:37.46. She is the only runner in league history to accomplish the feat.
She concludes her cross country career on Saturday at the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. Race time is set for noon.
