Ohio Women’s Basketball Adds Guice and Pope During Early Signing Period

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio women's basketball team has announced the addition of Peyton Guice and Ella Pope during the early signing period, sixth-year head coach Bob Boldon announced today (Nov. 21).

"We are very excited to add Peyton and Ella to our program," Boldon said. "Throughout the recruiting process it was truly a joy to get to know them and their family.  It was very clear that both basketball and academics were important to them.  As they strive to succeed at both. They are versatile players who routinely do whatever is asked of them to help the team.  They will fit in very well with the competitiveness and unselfishness of our team."

Peyton Guice | 5-9 | Guard | Westerville South High School | Westerville, Ohio.
Guice was a three-sport varsity letter holder in volleyball, track and basketball. She was her basketball team's captain all four years at Westerville South High School and served as team captain for track in 2018 and 2019, while also serving as team captain for volleyball in 2018. She was named Second Team all OCC in 2017, All-State Honorable Mention in 2018, and is a two-time defensive player of the year (2016 and 2017). Led by head coach Silas Williams, Guice and the Westerville South Wildcats were District Champions in 2018 and OCC Champions in 2018. Guice averaged eight points, four assists, two steals and two rebounds in her 2018 season.

Peyton is the daughter of Sara and Jermaine Guice. Her father played at Butler University from 1990-94 and was inducted into the Butler Hall Of Fame in 2011. She has four siblings, Jaiden, Jalynn, Nelia and Zoe. Her favorite athlete is Skylar Diggins and her hobbies include: cooking, baking, reading and hanging out with her friends. 

Ella Pope | 5-11 | Forward | Timpview High School | Orem, Utah.
Pope, a three-year captain for Timpview High School, received multiple awards. Most notably are First Team All-Region and Second Team All-State in both 2017 and 2018. Led by head coach Aimee Dorais, Pope and the Timpview Thunderbirds won the region and went on to become State Champion Runner Up this season. During the season Pope averaged 13.8 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game while also adding 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game. 

Ella is the daughter of Lee Anne and Mark Pope. Her father played professional basketball for the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and the Denver Nuggets and is the current men's basketball head coach at Utah Valley. Ella is the eldest of four daughters, followed by her sisters Avery, Layla, and Shay.
