CLEVELAND â For the third time this season, Ohio womenâs basketball senior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Dec. 26, the league announced today.
Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) once again led the Bobcats on the court, helping Ohio to a 1-1 week to close out non-conference and to open conference play. Overall, Lampkins averages 23.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist per game and 4.5 steals per contest. She was 18-of-38 (.473) from the field and 8-of-10 (.800) from the free throw line in 34.5 minutes of work on the floor.
Lampkins closed out non-conference play on Dec. 28 at North Carolina A&T by scoring 26 points in Ohio's 63-57 setback. Lampkins grabbed three rebounds, had two assists and four steals while shooting 10-of-19 from the field. She was also 3-of-4 of the free throw line and hit a season-high three made three pointers in 32 minutes on the court.
The Bobcats opened MAC play on Dec. 31 at Bowling Green and Lampkins once again filled up the score sheet. Lampkins scored 21 points in the 69-58 victory to lead Ohio to its fifth-straight win over Bowling Green. Lampkins was 8-of-19 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. She also grabbed five rebounds and had five steals in 37 minutes of action.
Lampkins and the Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Jan. 4 when Ohio hosts MAC East-leading Buffalo. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on BCSN/Time Warner Sports Channel and ESPN3.
