ATHENS, Ohio â For the fourth time this season, Ohio womenâs basketball senior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Jan. 16, the league announced today.
Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) led Ohio offensively this past week, leading the Bobcats to two victories against MAC West teams. Overall, Lampkins averaged 24.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals. Lampkins shot .586 from the field and .813 from the free throw line.
On Jan. 18 at Toledo, Lampkins scored 26 points, going 10-of-15 from the field and 5-of-8 from the free throw line. She grabbed 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. She also had five assists and one steal in 35 minutes of action. In the 64-55 win, Lampkins second basket in the first quarter allowed her to surpass 1,500 career points.
On Jan. 21 against Eastern Michigan, Lampkins scored 22 points, going 7-of-14 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. She had six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes of action in the 68-51 victory.
Lampkins and the Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Jan. 25 when Ohio (14-4, 5-2 MAC) hosts MAC West foe, Western Michigan (14-4, 5-2 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN3.
