CLEVELAND â Ohio womenâs basketball senior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Nov. 28, the league announced today (Dec. 6).
Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) led the Bobcats once again on the court, averaging a double-double and helping the Bobcats go 2-0 and improve to 6-0 overall. On the week, Lampkins averaged 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds. She was 9-of-21 (.429) from the field and 10-of-14 (.714) from the free throw line. She also averaged three assists per game and 2.5 steals per contest.
On Nov. 30 at Middle Tennessee State, Lampkins scored nine points, going 4-of-10 from the field and 1-of-4 from the free throw line. She grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists and had three steals in Ohio's 73-52 win.
On Dec. 3 against Duquesne, Lampkins scored 19 points (17 in the first half) and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in Ohio's 64-46 thumping of the Dukes. Lampkins was 5-of-11 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. She dished out four assists and had two steals in 35 minutes of play. For the third time in program history, the Bobcats begin the season 6-0.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 when Ohio travels to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on IUPUI. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
