PORTAGE, Mich. – The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2017 KZoo Classic hosted by Western Michigan at The Moors Golf Club on Tuesday (Oct. 3). The Bobcats concluded the tournament in fourth place after registering a score on 321 to finish with a three-round total of 951 (+33). Junior Nicole Smiley was the highest finishing Bobcats, wrapping up play tied for third place.
Bowling Green came away as tournament champions with a two-day score of 915 (+51).
Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats on Tuesday, shooting a third-round score of 72 for a two-day total of 225 (+9) and tying her for third place. Smiley's third-place spot ties her career high finish.
Next for Ohio was senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) who finished Tuesday's round with a 75, giving her a total of 227 (+11) and a sixth-place finish. This is Pendy's highest finish of the season so far.
Freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) was next for the Bobcats on Tuesday, wrapping up play with an 87, giving her a two-day total of 250 (+34) and tying her for 26th place. Sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) was next, finishing tied for 28th place after registering an 87 to help her finish the tournament +35 (251).
Competing unattached for the Bobcats was junior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) who shot an 86 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 31st place with a two-day total of 256 (+40).
The Bobcats wrap the fall portion of their schedule on Oct. 9-10 when they head to Ypsilanti, Mich. to take part in the 2017 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational hosted by Eastern Michigan at the Eagle Crest Golf Course.
